We always do a pre inspection of  the carpet to assess fibre type and style of backing so we can advise on the best method of carpet cleaning. It also gives  us a chance to inspect any stains and give the customer a realistic idea of the results likely to be attained. For the majority of carpets we use a system known as hot water extraction, which involves applying a pre-spray onto the carpet, which is then agitated into the pile and allowed to loosen the soil. There then follows a hot solution which is applied under pressure and immediately extracted back out with the dissolved grit and dirt into a recovery tank.

Different pre-sprays and spotters are used depending on stains and type of carpet.

The carpet is left slightly damp and is usually dry within a few hours. Powerful air-movers can be used to accelerate the drying process if necessary.

For certain types of carpet that are susceptible to damage or shrinkage due to over wetting we also use a low moisture system which relies on a pre-spray being agitated into the carpet to loosen the soil and then a rotary cleaning system is used which removes the soil onto an absorbent pad.

After cleaning the carpet we use a grooming rake to allow the air through the carpet and to set the pile. Finally foil cards or fibre blocks are placed beneath the furniture to ensure no dye or rust marks leech onto the carpet.

Similar to carpets we would always do a pre inspection of the upholstery to be cleaned to determine the best method of cleaning. Further tests are carried out for colour-fastness. Upholstery is always cleaned on top of sheets to protect carpets and flooring below. Upholstery is usually left slightly damp but will normally be dry within a few hours.

After cleaning your carpets or upholstery we can apply a stain protector which is usually a fluorochemical treatment that coats the surface of the fibres so the spill sits around the fibre giving you a greater chance of successfully removing it without leaving a permanent mark.
